Bought up in Llanelli in South Wales, Richard Evans studied Electrical Engineering at Bath University and Journalism at City University in London. He trained as a newspaper reporter on the South Wales Argus in Newport before joining GWR Radio in Bristol. He was a duty editor at BBC Wales before joining Radio One's Newsbeat where he was latterly news presenter on the Zoe Ball Breakfast show. He's reported at home and abroad for various BBC outlets including the Today Programme, The World at One and PM and presented series for BBC Radio Four, BBC Radio Five Live, BBC World Service, BBC Wales Radio and Television. He is an experienced Presentation and Journalism trainer and has facilitated and led events for the UK government’s Children and Young People’s Unit and the Radio Academy.
